Biomimetic Phase Change Materials for Thermal Energy Storage

Figen Balo, Lutfu S.Sua

For thermal energy storage applications, this study explores the integration of biomimetic principles into the growth and selection of phase change materials, particularly in the context of solar energy mechanisms. Results show the potential of certain bio-inspired composite materials in bridging the gap between laboratory research and practical deployment. These materials demonstrate enhanced thermal storage performance while aligning with sustainability goals. The study emphasizes the importance of systems-level evaluation in addressing remaining challenges, including thermal conductivity limitations, material stability, and integration strategies.By combining biomimicry with advanced decision-making frameworks, this research contributes to the evolving landscape of renewable energy materials and lays the foundation for future innovations in smart, adaptive, and eco-efficient thermal storage solutions.
