Fire Fighting System Integration on C-27J Aircraft

Abstract. The C-27J Fire Fighting program was born from the growing need in the fight against forest fires for a fixed-wing platform that is complementary to the Canadair fleet (CL-415) in a national and international context. It aims to create a firefighting version of the C-27J transport aircraft through the integration of an additional module and the related certification and industrialization, enhanching its multi-role capability. The work aims at presenting the modelling, simulation and testing activity performed in 2024 through the integration of a prototypical System on C-27J. The analytical approach developed and validated during this phase will be used to support the development of the first series unit of the System, where issues in terms of Centre of Gravity excursion will be more important because of the increase in payload.
