Abstract. The transition toward electric aviation demands energy storage technologies that overcome the weight limitations of conventional lithium-ion batteries. Structural batteries, capable of simultaneously carrying load and storing electrical energy, offer a promising route toward lighter and more efficient aircraft systems. This work presents the development and experimental evaluation of a type-III structural battery cell concept tailored for aeronautical integration. A multifunctional cell demonstrator was manufactured and tested to assess its electrochemical behavior and verify its feasibility as an energy-storing composite. Considerations on manufacturing scalability and material reclamation further highlight the potential of this approach for sustainable aerospace applications.
