A Decentralized Cluster-based Approach for Multi-Agent On-Orbit Inspection

A Decentralized Cluster-based Approach for Multi-Agent On-Orbit Inspection

Francesco Paolo SALZO, Pasquale FERRARA, Giordana BUCCHIONI

Abstract. Close-range inspection of non-cooperative satellites is essential to assess their condition and support potential servicing or removal operations. This work considers targets with fixed attitude in the Local-Vertical Local-Horizontal frame, leveraging relative Clohessy-Wiltshire dynamics and six Relative Orbital Elements (ROEs). The best candidate orbits were found by means of a density-based clustering approach and assigned using a distributed best-response scheme balancing information gain and maneuver cost.
