Abstract. The study investigates the mechanical and durability performance of fiberglass-reinforced concrete (FRC) designed for water retaining structures. The inclusion of fiberglass in concrete mixtures is known to improve crack resistance and tensile strength, yet its influence on permeability and long-term durability under continuous water exposure remains underexplored. Experimental testing was conducted on concrete specimens with varying fiberglass contents (0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5%) to evaluate compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths, as well as water absorption and permeability characteristics. Results indicate that the incorporation of 1.0% fiberglass achieved optimal performance, enhancing tensile and flexural strength by over 12% while reducing water absorption by approximately 9%. The findings suggest that FRC offers a viable and sustainable solution for enhancing the service life of concrete water tanks and other hydraulic structures.
