This chapter explores how advanced nanomaterials enhance performance of microfluidic biosensors by improving sensitivity, specificity, and speed of diagnostics. Nanomaterials such as gold nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, graphene, quantum dots, and nanocomposites amplify signal strength and can enable multiplexed detection. Detection methods include colorimetric, chemiluminescent, magnetic, photothermal, distance-based, and paper-based assays. It covers microscale transport, biomolecule detection, optical and electrochemical transduction, and signal processing. The chapter also highlights real-world applications in early disease diagnosis, environmental and food safety monitoring, and drug development, emphasizing the role of nanomaterials in advancing microfluidic biosensing technologies.
