Abstract. This paper presents the design, simulation and development of a novel portable thermoelectric cooling/heating box which efficiently uses both sides of a Peltier module (TEC1-12706) to provide simultaneous temperature control. For better heat transfer, the system uses elongated aluminum fins, incorporates an insulated polystyrene sleeve to retain heat, and uses a dual-mode power supply (AC/DC adapter + 12V battery with automatic UPS switching). We calculated based on our theories that this would give a cooling capacity of 150W (with heating potential of 150W) with a 10°C reduction in the temperature of the cooling compartment in a period of ten minutes, and in the heating box temperature reach up to 100°C.
