The Possibility of Laser Cladding Usage for the Regeneration of External Surfaces of Cast Iron Engine Cylinder Liners
Piotr SĘK
Abstract. The aim of the work is to determine the possibility of using laser powder coating for the regeneration of cast iron engine cylinder liners and to analyze the entire process: selection of cladding parameters, laboratory analysis: hardness, microscopic and profilometric. The disadvantages of this treatment are costs, long and difficult technological process, required stress relief treatment. The advantage is the possibility of applying layer surfacing as a buffer, and the possibility of transforming the used cylinder liner into new ones with satisfactory parameters.
