Corrosion Testing and Evaluation
M. Malekli, E. Famkar, H. Eivaz Mohammadloo
Coatings play a vital role in protecting and enhancing everyday materials and surfaces. They safeguard against corrosion, environmental damage, and wear, while also improving aesthetics and functionality. However, maintaining long-term coating performance is complex, requiring deep understanding of coating-substrate interactions and environmental factors. Different coating types, such as organic, inorganic, and metallic, offer unique properties for corrosion protection. Among them, Ni-P coatings stand out for their exceptional corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and hardness, making them crucial in sectors like automotive, aerospace, and electronics. To help with the evaluation of these coatings, this chapter will also cover the corrosion assessment techniques for Ni-P coatings.
