Nanoparticles (NPs) encompass innumerable applications in biological sciences as they possess required physiochemical features without any detrimental effects. This chapter explained numerous valuable uses of NPs in biology. Due to their advancement in various practical approaches, pharmaceutical and other industries have got tremendous results. Methods of synthesis and modifications in their structure or properties influence their therapeutic potential. Hence, synthesis and characterization of NPs should give proper importance before finding any applications. NPs are extensively employed in distinct branches of biology with promising results such as imaging and detection, drug delivery, gene therapy, tissue engineering, cancer treatment and as antimicrobial agents and biosensors. Case studies were analysed for elaborating the diverse situations in which NPs find interest. The study also gives attention in defining the toxicological effects of NPs which may have detrimental effects in future directions.
