Abstract. Undesired vibrations in milling processes negatively affect dimensional accuracy, tool life, surface quality, and the overall productivity. Passive approaches to suppress chatter are highly valued due to their simplicity and ease of implementation. In this study, cylindrical tooling systems with various internal structures — including lattice, auxetic, and Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) — were designed and manufactured using the Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology. Experimental modal analysis was conducted on each tooling system to assess their potential for enhanced attenuation of chatter vibrations. The TMD and unmelt powder filler configurations exhibited superior damping performance, demonstrating significant potential for real-world industrial applications.
