Cobalt based Superalloy

Uzma Hira, Nimrah Maqsood

Superalloys indicates to a class of alloys which may retain their mechanical properties despite prolonged high-temperature environments. Superalloys were originally designed to get usein turbo-superchargers and aviation turbine engines. Cobalt based superalloys have a melting point that is greater than alloys based on nickel, making them intriguing materials. These novel superalloys have excellent high-temperature characteristics since they are enhanced by an ordered γ’ phase (L12 phase). Researchers must use alloying methodologies to investigate high-dimensional composition and temperature space in order to generate them. The advancements of cobalt-based superalloys can benefit new technology due to their distinct microstructure features, uncovered in this work, which can also offer insights into the microstructural engineering of other produced superalloys.
