Abstract. The paper represents an experimental analysis of the state of mechanical stresses and specific linear deformations specific to a cylindrical structure, with defects. The main purpose of the work is to highlight the state of stress and strain at the pre-established measurement points, in order to identify areas with defects or discontinuities where the equipment can fail. The damage to the structural integrity of a pressure equipment can be influenced by the material and geometry of the equipment, working parameters, structural defects or discontinuities, and knowing the stress condition is also a target for safe operation. In this case, electroresistive tensometry and the finite element method (FEM) were used.
