Design and optimization of the centrifugal pump impeller for wastewater

Design and optimization of the centrifugal pump impeller for wastewater

Viorel BOSTAN, Andrei PETCO

Abstract In the given paper the optimization process of centrifugal wastewater pump impeller is presented. The initial geometrical model was designed in CFturbo software. The actual optimization process was carried out in ANSYS environment. The geometric model was realized in DesignModeler, with the application of Blade Editor tools and discretized by applying ANSYS Mesher. The calculations of the flow characteristics were performed in CFX and the application of the optimization algorithms was performed in optiSLang. Evolutionary Algorithm and NLPQL algorithm were compared as optimization algorithms. The best result was achieved by Evolutionary Algorithm, the application of which resulted in an impeller with an efficiency of 78.5, which satisfies the task imposed in the specification.
