Sustainability considerations in project management of new product development: Case study
Mihaela NICOLAU
Abstract. Due to an increased concern about global environmental changes, a product made of reusable environmentally friendly materials and processes can be seen valuable to the end user. Many companies use suppliers to design and manufacture sustainable components with certain technical, social, environmental, and economic constraints. The paper proposes a decision framework considering these constraints for ranking sustainable supplier alternatives. A multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) technique such as Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) will be used to determine the weights of the evaluation criteria, and the Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) will be used to rank the alternatives. The results confirm the usefulness of the proposed model in evaluating sustainable supplier selection strategies.
