Polymers in Dentistry

Huma Iftekhar, Adeela Majid

Dentistry is notable for its diverse array of materials, which encompasses polymers, metal alloys, ceramics, composite materials and inorganic salts. Foundational understanding of polymer characteristics used in dentistry is beneficial because it offers insights pertinent for healthcare practice. Polymeric materials have found increased use in biological applications because of their many beneficial features and broad range of applicability. Significant advancement in the domains of engineering and nanotechnology has made these polymers possible to be customized for particular dental needs. In the present chapter, utilization of polymers in different branches of dentistry is discussed.
